Nobody start to travel alone. Traveling, adventuring is a question of spirit and curiosity, but when we want to go more far we start a parallel type of traveling. Narratives, tales and whatever experience of somebody is a source for our imagination that trigger our willingness in discovering the world. So the first trip is inside books and stories, people reporting their trips and their experiences. For me books especially have incited and inspired my imagination and my feelings, have created worlds and the sensation of the willingness to explore the world around me.
But i have to recognize that some inner feelings has been gifted me by my parents, since when i was a child in the summer we were used to go to holiday in mountains. Not big trekking, but the sensation that i had that time when i was small are the same of that i have today, especially when i go to hiking alone and thoughts don't disturb me, i can connect with the nature and the woods in a pure manner, with the mind clean, feeling the sensation of life, of the nature, of the windy songs in all their emanations.

When you start to make more conscious and "grown up" travels and adventures the literature and the web give you full of information and helps in managing your project, and the tales of other adventurers are full of both practical and spiritual advices. I call all this cultural knowledge "community", meaning that even if the people that belong to it don't belong to a kind of local community with which we can directly communicate, nevertheless they constitute our collective knowledge without that for everybody would be hard not only planning but even have the idea of where and how to go. It's a kind of cultural experience that move from traveler to traveler, as a genetic experience, and all of us belong to this chain of travels and attempts of adventure.

For these reasons i have added a "community page" to share, with the inner feeling that it's also thanks to all these people and their willingness to discover the world that i have the possibility to have the same kind of adventures, all their experiences are a kind of guide and track for other people and of course they have been the same for me. It's not a complete list, this is not the purpose, it is the books that i have read, the web sites that I've discovered and that have been very useful to me, persons that i have known personally. All these collective experiences have been my community, my adventurer ancestors. This is a short list of the bike travelers and other adventurers that most of all inspired me:
